Sophomore Retreat

The UF AIChE Sophomore Retreat is an exclusive opportunity for sophomore chemical engineering students to gain valuable insights into their academic and professional futures. This retreat provides a platform to explore career paths, connect with industry professionals, and build a strong network within the UF Chemical Engineering community.

This year’s retreat features an industry speaker session with ExxonMobil, offering firsthand perspectives on careers in chemical engineering. Attendees will also have the opportunity to engage with UF ChemE student organizations, learn from undergraduate speakers, and hear from alumni through video presentations. A professor panel will provide insight into research opportunities, graduate school, and academic success.

In addition to professional development, the retreat fosters a sense of community among students. Through interactive activities, networking sessions, and engaging discussions, participants will have the chance to connect with their peers in a supportive environment. Lunch will be provided, ensuring a productive and enjoyable experience for all attendees.

Industry Mentorship Program

New as of spring 2025, special events committee has started an industry mentorship program that pairs students with a mentor of a chosen industry of interest. There will be a series of monthly Zoom calls throughout the semester structured around a given prompt to spark meaningful conversations. This program offers mentees the opportunity to gain valuable insights and develop professional skills! Be on the lookout for when sign-ups open as spots fill up fast!
