AIChE
The University of Florida Chapter of the American Institute of Chemical Engineers also known as UF AIChE is a student-run, non-profit organization that strives to provide fellowship among chemical engineering students and also foster engineering skills for the continued advancement of ourselves, our University, our community and our world.
G.R.A.C.E.
Graduate Association of Chemical Engineers (GRACE) is a graduate student group that was created to foster relationships between the student body and department. We host several events throughout the school year such as a trip to the springs, research socials, tailgates, and celebrations.
NOBBChE
National Organization for the Professional Advancement of Black Chemists and Chemical Engineers (NOBCChE) NOBCChE’s mission is to build an eminent cadre of successful diverse global leaders in STEM and advance their professional endeavors by adding value to their academic, development, leadership, and philanthropic endeavors throughout the life cycle of their careers.
Peer Advisors
Peer Advisors provide academic advising sessions throughout the semester (attending one is required in order to remove the hold on ONE UF to register for classes), help with any questions you may have regarding chemical engineering and offer tours for prospective students. Under the supervision of Cynthia Sain, the Academic Coordinator, we aim to help students have a positive and successful learning experience here at the University of Florida.
1st Year PhD Student Peer Mentors
Ph.D. Candidates, with the support of their advisor, can apply to serve as a first year Ph.D. student peer mentor. Chosen mentors receive an award based on their nomination and selection, which includes support for conference travel. First Year Ph.D. Student Peer Mentors aim to help new Ph.D. students transition to UF and to the department, facilitating social activities, study groups, and helping them navigate advisor and project selection. The purpose of these groups is to dispel the “hidden curriculum” that can occur in graduate education and ensure that all students have access to advice and information. Appointments to this role are for the entire academic year (August – June). Applications for the following year are solicited each April and require a letter for support from the current Ph.D. candidate’s advisor.
