Department of Chemical Engineering alumna Sarah Mena (Ph.D. ’16) is this year’s recipient of the The American Institute of Chemical Engineers (AIChE) Particle Technology Forum George Klinzing Best Ph.D. Award.
Mena’s dissertation at the University of Florida focused on the fluid-solids flows in dilute turbulent and laminar concentration regimes.
As a post-doc at the University of Michigan, she applied this research to the development of microfluidic devices for a novel point-of-care technology with the characterization of red blood cells. Mena has recently been hired as a project leader at Particle Solid Research, Inc.
