ChemE building renovation continues to progress

The renovation of the chemical engineering building is showing signs of progress. A recent walk-through – complete with a hard hat, safety glasses, vest and camera – offered glimpses beyond the construction fence and the chaotic chorus of jackhammers.

Project Manager Richard Clement and Field Engineer Dwayne Green, of Whiting-Turner Contracting Company, led the tour.

The construction started after a months-long relocation of all offices, labs and equipment, led by David Sante, the department’s engineering technician.

The move was followed by a nearly complete interior demolition of the building — except for the freight elevator. For the time being, it is still in place and in use.
